WoW Forever Racial Changes: Tauren Speed Cap Doubles to 60%

Blizzard changed the racial abilities of World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) in its development notes of October 26, 2026, with a follow-up on October 27: the Tauren Plainsrunning speed cap doubled from 30% to 60%, the Orc Blood Fury cooldown fell from 3 minutes to 2, and Skyborne Skysight rose to 15% movement speed. These are the latest values as of October 29, 2026, six days before launch.

Quick answer: Humans, Dwarves, Tauren, Orcs, Undead, Trolls and Skyborne all changed. The numbers below come from Warcraft Tavern, Kami Labs and Gamerfuzion, which agree on most values and cite Blizzard's forum notes; PC Gamer also reports the 30% to 60% Tauren change.

WoW Forever racial changes of October 26 and 27, 2026: Tauren Plainsrunning cap 30 to 60 percent, Human Ruthless 2 to 1 percent critical strike, Dwarf Earth Fury removed and Artisan's Precision added, Orc Blood Fury 3 to 2 minutes, Undead Touch of the Grave cooldown 25 to 15 seconds, Skyborne Skysight 10 to 15 percent.
Selected racial values before and after the October 26 and 27 changes, as reported by Warcraft Tavern, Kami Labs and Gamerfuzion.

Every race that sets out from Elwynn Forest, Durotar or Mulgore carries a gift from its people, and in the last week before launch some of those gifts were weighed again.

Key facts

Which racial abilities changed on October 26 and 27?

Warcraft Tavern, Kami Labs and Gamerfuzion list these changes.

  • Human: Ruthless critical strike chance 2% to 1%. Human Spirit 5% to 10%.
  • Dwarf: Earth Fury (2% critical damage and healing) removed. New Artisan's Precision gives 1% hit chance with spells and attacks.
  • Tauren: Plainsrunning 1% to 2% movement speed per stack, maximum 30% to 60%, and it no longer raises mounted speed. Endurance now gives only 5% Health.
  • Orc: Savage (1% critical strike chance) removed. Command returns with 5% Warlock and Hunter pet damage. Blood Fury cooldown 3 minutes to 2.
  • Undead: Touch of the Grave internal cooldown 25 seconds to 15.
  • Troll: Berserking duration 10 seconds to 15, per Warcraft Tavern and a post on Blizzard's EU forum.
  • Skyborne: Wind Blessed haste 3% to 2%. Read Leyline regeneration 100% to 50% for 15 seconds, Skysight 10% to 15% for 15 seconds.

PC Gamer, writing on October 26, says the patch "doubles" the old 30% Plainsrunning cap to 60%. Our race unlocks and race and class combinations guides show who can play what.

How did the Skyborne racials change?

Kami Labs says Skyborne gained two timed states. Read Leyline at a ley line grants "Attuned" for 1 hour with a 100% regeneration bonus, and Skysight at an elemental convergence grants "Charged" for 1 hour at 30% movement speed. Blizzard's October 27 post says Charged persists through death and is removed on entering a raid; Warcraft Tavern says the same of Attuned. Blizzard's Skyborne overview still lists 1% haste, 10% Skysight and 100% Read Ley Line, so treat that page as older. See the Skyborne guide.

What had changed a week earlier, on October 15?

Warcraft Tavern's October 16 report on Blizzard's October 15 notes shows several of these moving the other way. Blood Fury went from a 2-minute to a 3-minute cooldown, so October 27 restored the old figure. Sword, Axe and Mace Specialization became Ruthless, Savage and Earth Fury, and Wind Blessed rose from 1% to 3% haste.

Are these the final values for launch?

Blizzard's forum post is dated October 26, 2026, 20:35 UTC. The page I opened showed the post but not its per-race lines, so the October 26 values rest on outlets that cite it. Blizzard's October 27 follow-up on its EU forum, which I did open, confirms the Blood Fury, Berserking and Touch of the Grave lines. No source I opened says whether more racial changes may follow before November 4.

What do the sources disagree on?

  • Tauren Endurance (old value): Kami Labs says 5% Health plus 2% critical damage; Warcraft Tavern says hit chance and critical damage modifiers. All agree the new value is 5% Health.
  • Beta end: Gamerfuzion says October 22; AccountShark, citing a Blizzard post, says October 23.

Willo, a Windows companion app, lets you ask questions out loud, but she can be wrong, so check numbers against Blizzard's notes. For the race-by-race view see racials explained.
