WoW Forever Patch Notes: Where Blizzard Posts Them and What Changed
Blizzard publishes World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) patch notes as "WoW Forever Beta Development Notes," one running thread on the official World of Warcraft forums, and as of October 24, 2026 its dated updates run from September 24 through October 15. No launch-day patch notes had been published when this guide was reviewed.
Quick answer: Read Blizzard's Development Notes thread in the WoW: Forever Beta Discussion forum. It carried four updates during the beta: September 24, October 1 (level cap raised to 30), October 8 and October 15 (racial and class ability changes). The beta has ended, and notes for the November 4 launch build are not out yet.

A game's patch notes are its ledger: every coin of balance moved from one column to another is written down, if you know where the book is kept. For WoW Forever the book is a forum thread, and the road it records runs from the first week of the beta to its last.

Where can I read the official WoW Forever patch notes?
Blizzard posts them in the forum thread "WoW Forever Beta Development Notes," with United States and European copies. The thread title changes to name the latest update, so "Updated October 15" in the title means the newest section was added that day. Warcraft Tavern says Blizzard also posts Known Issues alongside the notes. Blizzard's news site carries announcements such as the stress test and rulesets, and this review did not find these change lists there. The summaries below come from Warcraft Tavern and PC Games, so read Blizzard's thread for the complete text.
What changed in the September 24 update?
The first major update came a week after the beta opened, says Warcraft Tavern. Talent respec was set to 1 silver for the beta only. Class tuning included Druid Wrath base damage up about 50 percent, Hunter Furious Howl's attack power bonus cut 40 percent, and Paladin Righteous Fury's Holy threat set to 60 percent from 90 (the source's own wording says "increased", so the direction is unclear). The Cooldown Manager became testable for five classes and is off by default. Wizard Oil returned to Classic values, and gamepad class flyouts arrived.
What changed on October 1?
This was the update that opened the upper levels. Warcraft Tavern and PC Games report that the level cap rose to 30, Excavation Site: Wetlands arrived for levels 26 to 31, and Razorfen Downs and Uldaman opened at levels 25 and 30. Dungeon quests gave 50 percent less bonus experience, PvP gear honor costs rose about 50 percent, and the honor cap went from 15,000 to 25,000. PC Games adds that Druid Tiger's Fury was removed and that Warrior basic attack crits gave extra Rage; its notes list both 75 and 100 percent for that change.
What changed on October 8?
Warcraft Tavern reports that the City of Dalaran dungeon opened for testing. Every beta player was granted the Legacy Challenge, worth 16 Legacy Points, so the Legacy system could be tried without grinding. Dungeon creature experience rose about 20 percent, and an experience penalty tied to the highest-level party member was reverted to Classic behavior. Several dungeon quest rewards fell from Rare to Uncommon, and the Cooldown Manager now covered all classes.
What changed on October 15?
Blizzard's thread title was updated to October 15, and Warcraft Tavern's October 16 summary describes racial and class ability changes. Skyborne Wind Blessed haste went to 3 percent from 1, and Tauren War Stomp dropped to a 90-second cooldown. Orc Axe Specialization became Savage, a 1 percent crit effect, and Human Sword Specialization became Ruthless. Wands and Auto Shot now require standing still for half a second. Battle Shout became raid-wide, and Mage gained Frost Blast at level 24. For how talents work, read the talents explained guide.
Will the beta notes match the launch version?
Not necessarily. Every update above describes a build capped at level 30, while the game launches November 4 with levels up to 60. Some entries are labeled beta-only, such as the 1 silver respec. The free Lore Forever add-on is fan-made and does not replace Blizzard's notes. For dates, see the stress test and beta guide and the release date guide.
What is not confirmed yet
- Blizzard has not published launch build notes; none were found by October 24.
- Whether Blizzard will reuse the same thread after launch is unconfirmed.
- This guide summarizes third-party write-ups of Blizzard's notes. Parts of the thread could not be read in full, so entries may be missing.
- Beta values such as respec cost and honor prices may change at launch.
