WoW Forever Release Date, Time and Launch Checklist

World of Warcraft: Forever launches globally on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Blizzard announced one global start time. That is 6:00 p.m. Eastern, 11:00 p.m. in London and 12:00 a.m. on November 5 in Paris and Berlin.

Base access is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. You do not need a special upgrade to enter Forever, but some benefits, including the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle experience, require a paid qualifying edition.

What time does WoW Forever launch in your region?

These conversions follow the announced 3:00 p.m. PST launch and assume standard time in each region on November 4.

  • Los Angeles / San Francisco (PST): 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4.
  • Denver (MST): 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4.
  • Chicago (CST): 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4.
  • New York (EST): 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4.
  • London (GMT): 11:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4.
  • Paris / Berlin (CET): 12:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5.
  • Tokyo (JST): 8:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5.
  • Sydney (AEDT): 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5.

Daylight saving rules differ around the world, so check your own city's offset for November 4.

The announced launch time does not guarantee that everyone connects instantly. Queues, server issues or last-minute maintenance may affect the first hours, and nothing here predicts queue lengths.

Is WoW Forever free, or do you need to buy it?

For the base game, you need an active WoW subscription or Game Time. Blizzard says Forever access is included with that subscription. That is not the same as free to play.

Blizzard also sells optional upgrades:

  • Skyborne Heroic Pack: unlocks the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience, plus Early Name Reservation and cosmetic extras.
  • Skyborne Epic Pack: everything in the Heroic Pack, plus beta access from September 17 and 30 days of Game Time starting November 4.
  • Warcraft Forever Collection: a limited-time bundle, available through January 11, 2027, that adds Warcraft III: Reforged and its Forsaken Kingdom campaign to the Epic Pack.

Prices, taxes and regional availability can change, so check the Battle.net shop before you buy. You do not need Skyborne to play a Human, Orc, Night Elf or any other standard race.

Key dates around launch

  • September 17, 2026: beta access began for Epic Pack and Collection owners.
  • October 27 to November 3, 2026: Early Name Reservation for qualifying upgrade owners.
  • November 4, 2026: global launch at 3:00 p.m. PST.
  • December 9, 2026: the first announced new raids, subject to roadmap updates.

Early Name Reservation lets eligible players create and customize up to three characters before launch. Names are first-come, first-served, so read Blizzard's exact terms before relying on a particular name.

Your ten-step WoW Forever launch checklist

  1. Confirm your Battle.net account. Make sure you can sign in and reach the email or authenticator tied to your account. Fixing recovery problems on launch day is avoidable.
  2. Check your subscription or Game Time. Verify the entitlement ahead of time rather than assuming an old subscription is active.
  3. Decide whether you want Skyborne. If you do, you need the Heroic Pack or higher. If you are happy with a standard race, you do not need to buy anything extra.
  4. Install and update Battle.net. Follow Blizzard's instructions for the Forever client when downloads open. Never download "early access clients" from unofficial sites.
  5. Pick a ruleset with your friends. Forever offers Normal, PvP and Roleplaying at launch, with Hardcore planned later. Characters in different rulesets cannot group for dungeons and raids. See the rulesets guide.
  6. Choose Alliance or Horde. Factions stay separate for ordinary grouping, so coordinate your faction as well as your ruleset.
  7. Decide on a class. Hunter is a beginner-friendly solo choice, but other classes suit other playstyles. Read the class comparison instead of chasing speculative rankings.
  8. Think about your character name. If you own a qualifying upgrade, use the October 27 to November 3 window. Otherwise, prepare a few alternatives.
  9. Leave time for game files and add-ons. Install the files before your planned first session once Blizzard releases them, and use add-ons made for Forever instead of assuming every modern or Classic add-on works unchanged.
  10. Set one sensible first-session goal. Finish the starting area, learn your buttons and reach the next town. The world will still be there tomorrow.

Make your first evening more immersive

The free Lore Forever add-on is built for WoW Forever. It gives you an in-game lore library plus narrated stories where recordings exist, and it is free, needs no account and runs on Windows and Mac.

To ask questions out loud while you play, Willo is a separate Windows desktop companion that works with the add-on. It is free to start, has optional paid plans, and is not required to use the add-on.

What happens after launch?

Forever is a permanent version of original Azeroth with ongoing updates. Blizzard's roadmap includes new raids unlocking from December 9 and more content afterwards. The level 60 journey stays central, so you do not need to rush to endgame on November 4.

Read the beginner's guide for your first ten levels, the Skyborne guide for the edition requirement and the leveling guide for zone planning.
