WoW Forever on Mac: Requirements and Apple Silicon
Yes, World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) is on Mac: Blizzard's starter guide says "You can play on Windows or Mac with a keyboard and mouse," and its Battle.net Shop page lists Mac requirements starting at macOS 12 with an Apple M2 or a 9th-generation Intel Core chip. The game opens on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST, and this guide is current as of that morning.
Quick answer: Minimum Mac: macOS 12, Apple M2 or 9th-gen Intel Core, 8 GB RAM, a Metal-capable GPU and a 128 GB SSD with free space. Recommended: macOS 15, Apple M4, 16 GB RAM. Mac players use the same Battle.net app and Game Version menu.
Check your chip first: About This Mac tells you.

Will WoW Forever run on a Mac?
Blizzard says so in the starter guide and the Shop page lists Mac specifications. The starter guide tells you to review the system requirements before installing. Install through the Battle.net desktop app, sign in, install World of Warcraft and select World of Warcraft: Forever from the game versions. Full steps: how to download and install.
Does WoW Forever run on Apple Silicon or Intel?
Both appear in Blizzard's minimum line: "Apple M2" or "9th Generation Intel Core Coffee Lake". The recommended line names only Apple M4. The page does not name M1, M3 or any Mac model, including the Mac mini, so I cannot say whether an M1 qualifies. The Shop page is Blizzard's; I did not find a separate Support article for Forever. Blizzard Support's general requirements article is the modern WoW page, which is a different game.
Are there Mac problems reported?
Only user reports. A September 17 Blizzard forum post from a player with a 2025 MacBook Air (M4, 24 GB, macOS 26.6.2) says the Forever beta froze the whole Mac when entering the world. Blizzard's Mac Technical Support forum also lists several Forever threads this week, including "WoW Forever on an old Mac"; I read titles only. These are not Blizzard confirmations, and the first concerns the beta client.
Where do addons go on a Mac?
The Lore Forever downloads page and FAQ give /Applications/World of Warcraft/_forever_/Interface/AddOns. See how to install WoW Forever addons.
Does Willo work on a Mac?
Conflict. Willo's download page offers a Mac build (Willo-mac.dmg, 64 MB, version 1.0.0, Apple Silicon M1 or later, macOS 12 or later): open it, drag Willo to Applications, and download it again to update. Her FAQ, the Lore Forever FAQ and the CurseForge page still call her Lore Forever's companion app for Windows. I did not find a page saying every feature matches the Windows version, so check her page and do not assume it does.
What is not confirmed yet
- Mac performance at launch and any Blizzard Mac advisory.
- Whether M1 meets the minimum.
- A Forever Mac article on Blizzard Support; I did not find one.
How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help with this?
The free Lore Forever add-on works anywhere the game runs, per its FAQ: take the ZIP or the CurseForge app on a Mac (the Setup installer is Windows-only). It adds readable and recorded stories and has no internet access. Willo is a separate companion app, free to start with 50 answers a day; she can be wrong and is not official. Both are fan-made and not affiliated with Blizzard. More platforms: Mac, Steam Deck and Linux and what you need to play.
