Looking for Group in WoW Forever: Where to Look, What to Write and What the Tool Does Not Do

In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) you find a group through the Looking For Group window, your guild and chat channels, and the tool only helps you organize a group, not form one. Warcraft Tavern reports that the window matches the one in WoW Classic and does not assemble groups automatically or teleport anyone, and Blizzard says you can group only with your own ruleset and faction.

Quick answer: List or browse in the Looking For Group window, choose a playstyle, and write the activity, level range, roles, ruleset, faction, meeting point and timing. Then travel to the dungeon yourself. Playstyle options are Learning, Relaxed, Competitive and Carry Offered, and no source explains them.

How to look for a group in WoW Forever: confirm your ruleset and faction, open the Looking For Group window, choose a playstyle, state the activity, level range, roles, meeting point and timing, then travel to the dungeon together.
A request, field by field: ruleset and faction, playstyle, activity, level range, roles and meeting point, from Warcraft Tavern and iTechGuides.

Every road in Azeroth leads somewhere a single adventurer should not go alone. A dungeon gate is the oldest invitation to ask for company, and the asking is a small craft of its own.

Key facts

  • The tool: a Looking For Group window matching WoW Classic's, which organizes groups but does not form them or teleport players (Warcraft Tavern, September 14, 2026, updated September 17)
  • Playstyle: required in the beta since early October, with options Learning, Relaxed, Competitive and Carry Offered and no descriptions given (Warcraft Tavern, October 2, 2026)
  • Summoning: the Warlock's Ritual of Summoning is the only summon described, and it needs two more party members present (Warcraft Tavern)
  • Who can group: same ruleset and same faction only (Blizzard)
  • What a request should state: activity, level range, roles, ruleset and faction, meeting point and timing (iTechGuides, October 19, 2026)
  • Player complaints: a September 26, 2026 forum thread says listing a group brings many whispers without class or role (a player post)

Where do you look for a group in WoW Forever?

Look in three places. The Looking For Group window is the tool Warcraft Tavern reports from the BlizzCon demo, where screenshots showed a group browser and a dungeon window. Your guild is the second place: iTechGuides advises joining a guild or community whose listing states ruleset, faction, language, region, play hours and attitude toward new players. Chat is the third: iTechGuides names local, general, guild and party chat as useful channels. Our dungeon group guide covers the window in detail, and the chat channels guide covers chat.

What should a group request say?

A good request answers the questions a stranger would otherwise whisper. iTechGuides lists the fields: the activity, the level range, the roles needed, the ruleset and faction, the meeting point and the timing, and it adds that you should name the specific dungeon or quest chain and say clearly when you are recruiting for a guild. Use those fields as a checklist.

GamerBlurb's beginner guide adds that you can tell a group you are new and ask what you need to know before the pull. Do not expect a shortcut: iTechGuides says Blizzard material it reviewed did not definitively say whether an automated dungeon finder ships, and advises not to plan around automatic matching.

What do the playstyle options mean?

No source opened explains them. Warcraft Tavern's October 2, 2026 report says the latest beta build required players to choose Learning, Relaxed, Competitive or Carry Offered before searching for a group, calls the change undocumented, and says the community would need to work out the meanings. The article includes no Blizzard statement. A player thread on the Blizzard forums, posted October 3, 2026, objects that the choice is restrictive and that Carry Offered is unclear, and no Blizzard staff reply appears there.

Who can you group with in WoW Forever?

Only players on your ruleset and faction. Blizzard's ruleset news says players can group, run dungeons and raid only with others on the same ruleset, and that Horde and Alliance cannot group together. See the rulesets guide and, for friends, how to play with friends.

How do you get to the dungeon after the group forms?

You travel. Warcraft Tavern concludes that players must walk to dungeon and raid entrances, as in the original game, and says Meeting Stones do not summon in Forever. The Warlock's Ritual of Summoning is the only summon the report describes. Our dungeon overview lists where the entrances are.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Warcraft Tavern's conclusion that no automated finder is coming is the author's reading of a demo, not a Blizzard statement.
  • The playstyle meanings and whether the option stays at launch are unconfirmed.
  • The September 26 forum complaint is one player's experience, and the thread shows no Blizzard reply.
  • Launch behavior may differ from the beta build Warcraft Tavern described on October 2, 2026, which allowed leveling to 30.

Frequently asked questions

Does WoW Forever have a dungeon finder?

Not an automatic one, according to Warcraft Tavern's reading of the BlizzCon demo. It reports a Classic-style Looking For Group window that organizes groups but does not form them or teleport players, while iTechGuides says Blizzard's launch material is not definitive on a dungeon finder.

How do you write a good group request in WoW Forever?

State the activity, level range, roles needed, ruleset and faction, meeting point and timing, as iTechGuides advises. Name the specific dungeon or quest chain.

What are the Looking For Group playstyle options?

Learning, Relaxed, Competitive and Carry Offered, according to Warcraft Tavern's October 2, 2026 report. No source opened explains what each one means.

Can Horde and Alliance players group together?

No. Blizzard says Horde and Alliance players cannot group, and groups form only within one ruleset.

Is there a way to teleport to the dungeon?

Warcraft Tavern says the Looking For Group window does not teleport anyone and Meeting Stones do not summon, so players walk. A Warlock's Ritual of Summoning, with two more party members present, is the only summon it describes.
