How to Feed Your Pet in WoW Forever: Feed Pet and Happiness
To feed your hunter pet in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), use the Feed Pet spell, which you learn from the last quest of the level 10 taming chain, on a food your pet's family eats, while out of combat. According to Warcraft Tavern's Forever pets guide, you can hover over the pet's Happiness icon to see which foods it accepts. As of November 5, 2026, no source I opened writes out the Forever click-by-click steps.
Quick answer: Learn Feed Pet by finishing the taming chain (final quest: Training the Beast, or Taming the Beast for Skyborne). Leave combat, check the Happiness icon for accepted foods, then feed. Happy pets deal 125% damage, content 100%, unhappy 75%, per Warcraft Tavern.

How do you feed a pet in WoW Forever?
Hunters can start taming at level 10 with three taming quests and a final quest; Warcraft Tavern says that final quest, Training the Beast (Taming the Beast for Skyborne), unlocks Feed Pet. Our hunter pets guide covers the chain. Once you have the spell, Warcraft Tavern's guide says to mouse over the pet's Happiness icon to see which foods it can eat, and that you cannot feed in combat.
The same guide does not write out the clicks. Warcraft Tavern's older Burning Crusade guide and Warcraft Wiki (modern WoW) say to click Feed Pet, then the food. Treat that as how earlier clients work and check the spell tooltip in WoW Forever.
What does my pet eat?
Warcraft Tavern says WoW Forever "streamlines pets into families" and lists 19 of them. Its table gives a few examples:
- Wolf, raptor, scorpid, spider, hyena, core hound: meat
- Cat, crocolisk, bird of prey, carrion bird: fish and meat
- Bat: fruit and fungus
- Tallstrider: bread, cheese, fruit and fungus
- Boar and bear: bread, cheese, fish, fruit, fungus and meat
Wowhead's Classic guide uses the same food categories but lists some families differently, so trust the Happiness icon. No source I opened names exact food items.
What does happiness do?
Warcraft Tavern says happiness is a hidden value that falls over time, so a pet needs feeding now and then. Pet death causes a large loss and needs Revive Pet, and Dismiss Pet lowers happiness by 50. In original Classic, Warcraft Wiki says Feed Pet raised happiness. Modern WoW removed happiness, so a modern-WoW feeding guide will not match.
Is there an add-on to feed your pet?
A CurseForge add-on, Feed Pet: Forever (updated October 2, 2026, per its page), shows a flashing icon when the pet is unhappy or content and feeds from your bags on a click. Its page says native in-game feeding "still needs live confirmation" on Forever. I did not test it; see best add-ons.
What is not confirmed yet
- Warcraft Tavern says happiness was bugged on the beta and only dropped when the pet died. Launch behavior may differ; its pages show no date.
- No source I opened gives feeding time, happiness per food, or which food items to buy.
- The Forever menu or spell tooltip is the source of truth for diets.
Can the Lore Forever add-on or Willo help?
The free Lore Forever add-on tells the story behind your quests and zones; it does not manage pets. Willo, a separate companion app (Windows 10 or 11, with an Apple Silicon Mac download for macOS 12 or later on her page), can be asked out loud what your pet eats. She is free to start with 50 answers a day, can be wrong and is not official, so check the Happiness icon. Both are fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard.
