Guides do not agree on one best gathering pair in WoW Forever. TimeSaver names Mining with Herbalism or Mining with Skinning for gold, Wowhead's Herbalism guide says Mining is the profession most frequently picked alongside it, and MeinMMO says it does not matter whether you level two gathering or two crafting professions, as of November 6, 2026.

What is the best gathering profession pair in WoW Forever?
TimeSaver (Sam Okonkwo, October 2) says that for pure gold you should pick two gathering professions, because gatherers have "no reagent cost" and no leveling tax. It calls Mining plus Herbalism the classic double gatherer, Mining plus Skinning right for melee classes that already kill beasts, and Herbalism plus Skinning the lightest for gathering while questing. TimeSaver warns that any gold-per-hour figure is provisional until launch.
Wowhead's guides (by Nodge, updated between October 23 and November 4) point the same way. The Herbalism guide says Mining is the most frequently picked profession alongside it. The Mining guide calls Herbalism an excellent second profession. The Skinning guide calls Mining and Herbalism "good sources of gold on their own" and notes you meet skinnable creatures while mining.
Should I take two gatherers or a gatherer and a crafter?
Icy Veins says pairing a gatherer with a crafter makes materials much easier to get, otherwise you buy them from other players, while two gatherers lets you sell what you find or stockpile materials for a later swap. Warcraft Tavern says to pair a crafter with its matching gatherer unless another character gathers for you. MeinMMO (Karsten Scholz, October 28) writes that it does not matter whether you level two gathering or two crafting professions, and says it only knows the beta up to level 30.
What do the gatherers need?
Icy Veins says Miners need a mining pick and that herbs can be picked by right-clicking with no tool. For Skinning it says you need a skinning knife in your bags. Wowhead says the Skinning Knife is sold by trade and Leatherworking supply vendors.
Will two gatherers sell well at the auction house?
Wowhead reported around November 5 to 6 that every listing costs at least 1 silver in deposit, and advises larger stacks for cheap goods; AHLedger says stackable items pay it per stack. See deposit and fees and gold making. Nobody has published live gold-per-hour numbers I could verify.
