Stormwind City

Founded over a millennium ago by Arathi descendants migrating south, Stormwind flourished as a vibrant coastal capital ringed by stone ramparts and powered by swift rivermills. That grandeur ended in the First War when the Orcish Horde besieged the city, breached its defenses, and burned it to the ground, forcing Sir Anduin Lothar to lead surviving refugees across the Great Sea to Lordaeron. Following the victory of the Alliance in the Second War, the Stonemasons' Guild undertook the monumental task of rebuilding the capital into the gleaming fortress of white stone, canal networks, and towering spires that stands north of Elwynn Forest today.

With Lordaeron shattered by the Scourge and Dalaran heavily ruined during the Third War, Stormwind City serves as the primary refuge and stronghold for mankind. Its broad avenues and defensive walls are patrolled by the disciplined Stormwind City Guard, while the spires of the Cathedral of Light guide faith and devotion across the southern kingdoms. Yet beneath its orderly districts and ceremonial gates lies quiet political turmoil: King Varian Wrynn has mysteriously vanished, leaving his young son Anduin on the throne under the regency of Highlord Bolvar Fordragon and the whispered counsel of royal advisor Lady Katrana Prestor.
