Merchant Coast

The Merchant Coast is the stretch of eastern shoreline in the Barrens bordering the Great Sea. Dominated by the bustling goblin port of Ratchet, the coast derives its name from lucrative sea trade, though it remains constantly contested by pirates.

Running along the eastern edge of the Barrens, the Merchant Coast serves as a vital maritime artery connecting central Kalimdor to the Eastern Kingdoms and Theramore. Its name honors the industrious goblin traders of the Steamwheedle Cartel, whose neutral port of Ratchet handles cargo for anyone with coin. However, the open sea lanes attract more than merchant vessels: Southsea Freebooters prowl the sands and nearby waters, preying on merchant ships and setting up illicit operations along the beaches.
