Goblin
Goblins are diminutive, cunning humanoids originating from the Isle of Kezan, renowned across Azeroth for their relentless pursuit of profit, explosive engineering, and aggressive trade cartels. While most maintain a stance of strict neutrality to maximize commerce between the Alliance and Horde, mercenary and cutthroat outfits like the Venture Company and Steamwheedle Cartel leave an indelible mark on every corner of the world.
Cartels of Kezan
Goblins hail from the Isle of Kezan in the South Seas, where their society long ago divided into competing economic syndicates known as cartels. Rather than building kingdoms or armies of their own, goblin leaders channeled their ambitions into cutthroat mercantilism, volatile engineering, and industrial ventures that now reach every corner of the world.
Mercenaries and Mercantilism
During the Second War, Trade Prince Steamwheedle allied his cartel with Orgrim Doomhammer's Horde, supplying maps, siege craft, and fleet-building expertise in exchange for Stormwind's captured plunder. Following the Horde's eventual defeat, the cartels learned that open allegiance cost them lucrative markets. In the modern era, the major cartels claim official neutrality, maintaining bustling trade havens like Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale and Gadgetzan in the Tanaris desert. Here, Alliance and Horde travelers cross paths without blades drawn—so long as port bruisers keep the peace.
