WoW Forever Zul'Farrak: Level, Entrance, Bosses and Quests in Tanaris

Zul'Farrak is a five-player dungeon in northwestern Tanaris in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), where a group fights through Sandfury troll territory to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. Warcraft Tavern's Forever guide gives the entrance as about 39, 20 and lists nine quests, but says the guide is based on WoW Classic because Zul'Farrak was not playable in the beta.

Quick answer: Find the canyon entrance in the northwest corner of Tanaris, bring five players and expect levels somewhere between 40 and 54, because the sources disagree. Warcraft Tavern lists 11 bosses and nine quests, and the optional boss Gahz'rilla needs a mallet that starts in The Hinterlands.

Zul'Farrak in WoW Forever, step by step: the entrance in northwest Tanaris near 39, 20, the Sandfury troll canyon, the early bosses, the optional Gahz'rilla summon with the Mallet of Zul'Farrak, and the final boss Chief Ukorz Sandscalp.
The route through Zul'Farrak, from the Tanaris canyon to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp.

The road in runs through a canyon lined with walls and troll structures, in Warcraft Tavern's words, and the tribe waiting inside is one Warcraft Wiki calls ruthless. This is a dungeon you reach by crossing a desert, so plan the trip as carefully as the fight.

Where is the Zul'Farrak entrance?

The entrance sits in the northwest corner of Tanaris, around 39, 20, according to Warcraft Tavern. Warcraft Wiki places the dungeon at Sandsorrow Watch in northwestern Tanaris. Warcraft Tavern adds only that the route winds through a canyon lined with walls and troll structures. The Tanaris and Uldum guide covers the zone around it, and the travel guide covers the roads and flight paths.

What level is Zul'Farrak in WoW Forever?

No single range exists. Warcraft Tavern's Zul'Farrak guide says 45 to 54, while its own dungeon list for WoW Forever says 40 to 47. Warcraft Wiki's Classic figure is 44 to 54. Kami Labs, reading the beta client data on October 10, lists a Group Finder level of 42 and an Entry level of 39, without explaining how they apply. Treat 40 to 54 as the possible span until Blizzard publishes a range. The dungeons overview and the dungeon groups guide explain how groups form.

Who are the Zul'Farrak bosses?

Warcraft Tavern lists 11: Zerillis (rare), Antu'sul, Theka the Martyr, Witch Doctor Zum'rah, Dustwraith (rare), Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz, Sergeant Bly, Chief Ukorz Sandscalp, Hydromancer Velratha, Gahz'rilla (summoned) and Sandarr Dunereaver (rare). The same page says 14 bosses and two rares in its text, so its own count does not match its list.

Warcraft Wiki's infobox lists 13, adding Sandfury Executioner, Nekrum Gutchewer and Ruuzlu, and leaving out Sergeant Bly.

How do you summon Gahz'rilla?

Gahz'rilla is a level 46 elite, per Warcraft Tavern, summoned by using the Mallet of Zul'Farrak on the gong inside the dungeon. To make the mallet, loot the Sacred Mallet from Qiaga the Keeper, a level 50 elite at the Altar of Zul in The Hinterlands, then take it to the altar at the top of Jintha'Alor in the east of The Hinterlands. Bring the finished mallet into the dungeon.

Warcraft Wiki says the mallet was needed before patch 3.0.8, and later versions use only the gong. Because Warcraft Tavern's guide is Classic-based, the mallet route is the one it describes, and Forever's launch version is not confirmed.

Which quests belong to Zul'Farrak?

Warcraft Tavern lists nine. Alliance: Nekrum's Medallion from Thadius Grimshade in the Blasted Lands, and The Brassbolts Brothers from Klockmort Spannerspan in Ironforge. Horde: The Spider God from Master Gadrin in Durotar. Open to both: Gahz'rilla from Wizzle Brassbolts in Thousand Needles, The Prophecy of Mosh'aru from Yeh'kinya, Scarab Shells from Tran'rek, Troll Temper from Trenton Lighthammer and Divino-matic Rod from Chief Engineer Bilgewhizzle, all in Tanaris, and Tiara of the Deep from Tabetha in Dustwallow Marsh.

What is the story of Zul'Farrak?

Warcraft Wiki describes Zul'Farrak as a Gurubashi city, says the Farraki became the sand trolls and calls the Sandfury tribe ruthless. It also describes Sergeant Bly's party as mercenaries from Gadgetzan who are trapped inside. Only Warcraft Wiki was opened for this lore, so treat it as single-source. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable quest background as you play; it is fan-made.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Beta access: Warcraft Tavern says Zul'Farrak was not accessible in the beta, so launch details may differ.
  • Level range: four figures above disagree.
  • Boss count: 11, 13 and 14 all appear.
  • Forever changes: Kami Labs tags the dungeon as changed without saying how; Warcraft Tavern lists no changes.
  • Lore: single-source (Warcraft Wiki).
