WoW Forever Wailing Caverns: Level 17-24 Dungeon in the Barrens

Wailing Caverns is a five-player dungeon in the Barrens of World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), built for levels 17 to 24 and ending with Mutanus the Devourer. Warcraft Tavern's Forever guide puts the entrance at Lushwater Oasis and says the dungeon has little that is new compared with the original game.

Quick answer: Bring a group of five to Lushwater Oasis in the Barrens, enter the Cavern of Mists, and follow the passage down to the dungeon portal. Expect nine bosses, one of them a rare, and seven quests. Horde players reach it easily; the Alliance faces a long trip.

Beside Lushwater Oasis in the Barrens, a cave system was meant to restore the land. The night elf druid Naralex wanted to join its waters to the Emerald Dream, but the Emerald Nightmare overwhelmed him instead, according to Warcraft Wiki.

Where is the Wailing Caverns entrance?

The entrance sits at Lushwater Oasis. Warcraft Tavern places the oasis in the central Barrens, while Warcraft Wiki puts the caverns in the Northern Barrens, south of the Crossroads. Warcraft Tavern says to enter the Cavern of Mists at the cave opening around 46.0, 36.3, then follow the passage down to a large cavern with a pool, where the dungeon portal waits. It warns that many elite enemies patrol the outer cavern, so gather your group before you go in. The Barrens guide covers the zone around it, and the travel guide covers the roads.

What level is Wailing Caverns in WoW Forever?

Wailing Caverns is for levels 17 to 24. Warcraft Tavern's dungeon list and guide both say so, and Warcraft Wiki's Classic figure matches. Zockify lists a minimum of 10 and a recommended level of 17, and Kami Labs lists 17 with entry at 10. The leveling 10 to 30 guide shows the dungeon among the others in that band.

Who are the Wailing Caverns bosses?

Warcraft Tavern lists nine: Kresh, Lady Anacondra, Lord Cobrahn, the rare Deviate Faerie Dragon, Lord Pythas, Skum, Lord Serpentis, Verdan the Everliving and Mutanus the Devourer. Warcraft Wiki's Classic page names the same nine. Zockify counts eight. Warcraft Tavern says Lady Anacondra can put party members to sleep if her cast is not interrupted. It says Mutanus appears from the pool after the Disciple of Naralex is escorted to the ritual stone, and that seven oozes and three snakes must die first. It also notes two places that need a jump across a gap.

Which quests belong to Wailing Caverns?

Warcraft Tavern lists seven. The two Horde quests are Serpentbloom, from Apothecary Zamah in Thunder Bluff, and Leaders of the Fang, from Nara Wildmane in Thunder Bluff. The rest are Deviate Eradication from Ebru, Deviate Hides from Nalpak, Trouble at the Docks from Crane Operator Bigglefuzz and Smart Drinks from Mebok Mizzyrix, all in the Barrens, plus The Glowing Shard, obtained inside the dungeon. Warcraft Wiki's Classic page names more quest givers than Warcraft Tavern's Forever list, among them Falla Sagewind, Tonga Runetotem and Mathrengyl Bearwalker, the Alliance-side turn-in for In Nightmares.

What is the story of Wailing Caverns?

Warcraft Wiki says the night elf druid Naralex found the caverns and planned to link their waters to the Emerald Dream to restore the Barrens, was overwhelmed by the Emerald Nightmare while meditating, and that his disciples were corrupted and most became the Druids of the Fang. The wildlife became deviate creatures. WoW Is Classic gives the same outline. Warcraft Tavern says players help awaken Naralex from his slumber. For the order behind him, read the night elves history and the Malfurion Stormrage story. The free Lore Forever add-on shows quest background as you play; it is fan-made.

What is not confirmed yet
