WoW Forever Quest Bugged or Stuck? Steps That Can Fix It

If a quest is bugged or stuck in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), Blizzard Support's quest troubleshooting article says to log out and back in, change zones and return, abandon and re-take the quest, reset your interface, and report a real bug in the game. That article is written for World of Warcraft in general, not for Forever specifically, as of November 6, 2026.

Quick answer: Check the known issues first, then relog, change zones, abandon and re-take the quest (you may lose progress), reset the UI, and report it in game. Support does not provide game hints.

Stuck quest checklist from Blizzard Support's quest troubleshooting article: check known issues, check Wowhead comments, relog, change zones and return, abandon and retake the quest, reset the interface, and report the bug in the game.

Key facts

  • Official steps: relog, change zones, abandon and re-take, reset UI, report in game (Blizzard Support article 286853, updated "1 month ago" on the page)
  • Scope: the article body never mentions Forever; it says to pick a game such as Classic WoW
  • Blizzard's Forever list: Common Issues page shows "No issues currently being tracked" under Quests (read November 6)
  • Abandoning: can fix NPC or progress issues but may lose progress made (Blizzard Support)
  • Wowhead tool: a Quest Unstuck page, labelled BETA, shows quest chains for a character you add
  • Known issues: Blizzard's launch-week list includes a disabled Ashenvale quest

What should I try first when a quest is stuck?

Work through Blizzard Support's list in order, since the cheapest steps come first:

  1. Look for known issues. Search Blizzard's support articles and read the comments on the quest's Wowhead page; Blizzard Support says to check a fansite such as Wowhead.
  2. Log out and back in. Support says this can fix quest progression or phasing issues.
  3. Change zones and come back. Support says this can resolve phasing issues; it does not say whether that covers Forever's layers, see layering explained.
  4. Abandon and re-take the quest. Support says this can fix NPC or progression problems but may lose progress. Blizzard's Starter Guide says you can abandon quests from the quest log; see quests and the quest log.
  5. Reset your user interface. Support says to do this so files and add-ons are not corrupted.

Which quests does Blizzard already know are broken?

Blizzard has said so in three places I read:

  • Blizzard staff comments on Wowhead quest pages say escort quests "Freedom to Ruul", "Free From the Hold" and "The Defias Brotherhood" can fail when the NPC despawns near zone boundaries, and that healing Injured Deathguards for "Rediscovering the Light" may not grant progress.
  • Blizzard's known-issues post (via Wowhead) says "Vorsha the Lasher" in Ashenvale is disabled until a crash bug is fixed.
  • Blizzard's November 5 hotfixes made Deathstalker Erland respawn faster for "Escorting Erland" and fixed text in "The Sisterhood of Elune."

Player-reported bugs such as The Great Outdoors are separate.

How do I report a stuck quest?

Support says bugs "should be reported in the game," and that Customer Support does not provide game hints. Blizzard's Forever Common Issues page, which lists known problems, is a second place to look. The article does not name a menu or command, so check the game's Help or Esc menu.

What is Wowhead's Quest Unstuck tool?

Wowhead lists a Quest Unstuck tool in its Forever navigation. The page I opened is marked BETA and asks you to add a character to see its quest chains. I did not test it with a character, so I cannot say what it fixes.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Forever scope: the Support article is not Forever-specific.
  • A Forever-specific ticket route: I found none; the page says to report in game.
  • Trivial Quests tracking: Support mentions a minimap Tracking option for low-level quests; I could not confirm it in Forever.
  • Realm step: Support's "join a group on a different realm" tip does not fit realmless Forever, so I left it out.

Can the Lore Forever add-on or Willo help?

Not with a bug, but they can show what a quest is meant to do. The free Lore Forever add-on has a Lore button on quests and no internet access. Willo is a separate companion app for Windows 10 or 11 and Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 12 or later), per her page; her FAQ and the Lore Forever FAQ say Windows and Mac, though CurseForge still calls her a Windows app. Ask her out loud what a quest wants; she is free to start (50 answers a day), can be wrong and is not official. Both are fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard.
