WoW Forever Legacy Points: How They Work and Calculators
In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), Legacy Points come from completing Legacy Challenges: each of the 65 challenges gives one point to your Battle.net account, and each character can spend up to 16 points on perks at launch. Blizzard's Legacy System post is the source for the rules, and Wowhead runs a free Legacy Calculator for planning, as of November 6, 2026.
Quick answer: Earn points by finishing challenges (class levels, profession skill, PvP, dungeons, raids, exploring). Open the Legacy window with the shield icon or the default Y key. Spend points per character, capped at 16. Your total across the account unlocks four rewards at 15, 25, 40 and 55 points.

Key facts
- Unlock: your first Legacy Point opens the system, usually at character level 25 (Blizzard)
- Points: 65 challenges, one point each; points are account-wide for non-Hardcore characters (Blizzard)
- Spending: up to 16 points per character at launch, spent independently per character (Blizzard)
- Rewards: Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, Spectral Bear Cub, Spectral Bear Tabard, Reins of the Spectral Bear (Blizzard names them; Wowhead's calculator shows 15, 25, 40 and 55 points)
- Hardcore: not available at launch (Blizzard)
How do Legacy Points work in WoW Forever?
Blizzard describes Legacy as account-wide horizontal progression. You earn a point when one of your characters completes a challenge, and the point belongs to your whole account. Each character then spends points on perks in three trees (Professions, Adventure, Resourcefulness) and can spend a different mix from your other characters.
The six categories are Classes 27, Tradeskills 18, PvP 12, Dungeons 3, Raids 3 and Adventure 2. Blizzard says one character can reach up to 29 points without alts.
How do I get my first Legacy Point?
Blizzard lists three ways: reach level 25 on a character, reach 150 skill in a non-gathering primary profession, or explore the entire world map. Once you have one point, the Legacy window opens from the shield icon on the menu or the default hotkey Y.
Is there a Legacy Points calculator?
Yes. Wowhead's WoW Forever Legacy Calculator (opened November 6) shows the three trees with a "0 / 16 Legacy Points" counter, a Reset button, a Link button and a progress track with the four rewards at 15, 25, 40 and 55 points.
A free add-on called Chart My Legacy, listed on CurseForge as built for the Forever client, tracks your account's Legacy points and each character's rested XP. Its newest file is dated October 10, 2026 and its install note names the beta folder, so whether it works on the launch build is unconfirmed.
Do Legacy Points carry across rulesets and Hardcore?
Blizzard says Legacy challenges completed on non-Hardcore rulesets will not show up in Hardcore, while a challenge earned in Hardcore counts in every other ruleset. PvP challenges cannot be completed in Hardcore, so Blizzard says it will have 12 new Hardcore-specific challenges when Hardcore launches. See the Hardcore ruleset page.
What is not confirmed yet
- Where the total shows: Blizzard names the Legacy window but I found no source saying where your running total is displayed
- Reward pickup: Warcraft Tavern says you collect rewards from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchett; Blizzard's post does not mention it (single source)
- Respec: Warcraft Wiki says you can respec at class trainers; no Blizzard page I opened says so (single source)
- Per-tree cap: Wowhead's calculator shows 16 on each tree; Warcraft Tavern says a tree holds up to 25 with a 16-point total cap; the exact menu behaviour needs an in-game check
Can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help with Legacy?
Neither is described as a Legacy tracker on its page. When a menu or perk name is unclear, ask Willo out loud while you play; she can be wrong and is not official, so Blizzard's post and the in-game Legacy window are the source of truth. Willo is free to start (50 answers a day) and is a separate companion app for Windows 10 or 11 and Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 12 or later), per her page; the Lore Forever FAQ says Windows and Mac, though CurseForge still calls her a Windows app. The free Lore Forever add-on adds a one-line story to NPC tooltips and a Lore button on quest dialogs and the quest log; it is fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard, has no internet access, and its narration uses generated voices.
