WoW Forever Alterac Mountains Guide: Strahnbrad, Dalaran Crater and Alterac Valley
Alterac Mountains is the mountain zone in central Lordaeron in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), listed at levels 30 to 40, where most quests are picked up in Hillsbrad Foothills and the zone itself holds Strahnbrad, Dalaran Crater, Crushridge Hold and the entrances to the Alterac Valley battleground. Warcraft Wiki says the original zone remains in Forever. No source has published Forever-specific changes for it.
Quick answer: Alterac Mountains has no proper quest hub and no flight paths. Alliance players take quests from Southshore and Horde players from Tarren Mill, then travel into the mountains. Warcraft Wiki lists Lieutenant Haggerdin (Alliance) and Warmaster Laggrond (Horde) as the Alterac Valley entrances.

Warcraft Wiki says a city-state once rose in these peaks. Its ruins now belong to the Crushridge ogres, and the name that lingers is Perenolde.

What is the story of Alterac Mountains?
Warcraft Wiki says the Alteraci tribe joined the Empire of Arathor after their leader, Ignaeus, lost a duel to King Thoradin. As Arathor fractured, the city-state of Alterac arose in the peaks and came to dominate much of the northlands. In the Second War, the wiki says, the Alliance of Lordaeron exposed the treachery of the Alteraci humans, and an army marched on the mountains.
The wiki says the Crushridge ogres, led by Mug'thol, later claimed the ruins of Alterac City. Aliden Perenolde, a former Alteraci prince, led the Syndicate in the Third War after rising in the Durnholde military under his mentor Aedelas Blackmoore. Read the Alterac and Perenolde guide and the Lordaeron lore guide.
During the First War the exiled Frostwolf clan made a home deep in Alterac Valley. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable background as you stand in each place, and the optional Willo Windows companion answers lore questions by voice.
