Thalassian and Darnassian Phrases for Roleplay in WoW Forever
To say something in elvish in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) roleplay, use the phrases whose translations Blizzard has confirmed, such as the Darnassian greeting "Elune-Adore" (Elune be with you) and the Thalassian "Sinu a'manore" (well met). Warcraft Wiki lists "elvish" as a name for Darnassian, the night elf language, while Thalassian belongs to high, blood and void elves. This guide is current as of November 5, 2026, the day after launch.
Quick answer: Copy official phrases exactly and keep the rest of your line in English. Do not build new sentences from the word lists: Warcraft Wiki says Blizzard has an internal grammar, and I found none published.

An elf who greets you in your own tongue is polite. One who greets you in the old one is telling you where she is from.
Key facts
- Darnassian: language of the night elves and Skyborne; also called Darnassae, Kaldorei or elvish (Warcraft Wiki)
- Thalassian: primary language of blood, high and void elves, derived from Darnassian (Warcraft Wiki)
- Official translations: each primer lists phrases "officially confirmed by Blizzard" (Warcraft Wiki)
- In Forever: Darnassian is the one cross-faction language there, for night elves and Skyborne (Warcraft Wiki, single source)
- Not canon: the Warcraft RPG, Hearthstone and speculation sections (Warcraft Wiki)

Which Thalassian phrases are official?
Warcraft Wiki's Thalassian primer says its translations were also officially confirmed by Blizzard.
- Bal'a dash, malanore: Greetings, traveler.
- Sinu a'manore: Well met.
- Anu belore dela'na: The sun guides us.
- Doral ana'diel?: How fare you?
- Al diel shala: Safe travels.
- Shorel'aran: Farewell.
- Elu'meniel mal alann: May peace calm your heart.
- Anar'alah: By the light.
What counts as canon here?
Warcraft Wiki also lists words heard in the game or books with no official translation. They are canon, but any meaning you attach is a guess, so I left them out. Sections from the Warcraft RPG and Hearthstone are marked non-canon, and speculation sections are not official lore.
Can I make up my own elvish sentence?
Not safely. Warcraft Wiki says Blizzard has developed a grammatical template for Darnassian internally, but I found no published grammar. The wiki also warns that the in-game language parser, a list of words substituted for what you type, merely makes text look like the language and does not translate. A sentence assembled from a word list is fan invention, so use one official phrase, then plain English.
Which races can speak which language in Forever?
Warcraft Wiki says night elves and Skyborne can speak cross-faction using Darnassian, and calls it the only one of five cross-faction languages available in Forever. That note cites a Blizzard recap that does not mention languages when I opened it, so treat it as one source. I found no source saying a Forever player race speaks Thalassian. See rulesets, the RP-PvP ruleset and best class for roleplay for where to use it.

How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help with this?
The free Lore Forever add-on is fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard, and has no internet access; its stories give your character something to talk about. Willo is a separate companion app with a Windows 10 or 11 download and an Apple Silicon Mac download (macOS 12 or later); the Lore Forever FAQ calls her a companion app for Windows and Mac. She is free to start with 50 answers a day; you can ask her what a phrase means, but she can be wrong and is not official, so check the primer.
