Shadowfang Keep

Perched on the rugged bluffs above Pyrewood Village, Shadowfang Keep is the gloomy stronghold of the rogue Kirin Tor wizard, Archmage Arugal. Once the ancestral estate of Baron Silverlaine, the bastion now teems with feral worgen beasts and the tormented phantoms of its slaughtered defenders. For adventurers traversing southern Silverpine, the keep represents the dark epicenter of the beastly scourge consuming the region.

Before it was shrouded in nightmare, Shadowfang was known as Silverlaine Keep, a noble seat loyal to Gilnean lords and garrisoned by the pious Commander Springvale. When the Scourge swept through Lordaeron during the Third War, Dalaran's wizards fell in droves. Desperate to stem the rising dead, Archmage Arugal defied Kirin Tor leadership and delved into the research of the wizard Ur, summoning extra-dimensional worgen to turn the tide. The summoned beasts savaged the undead, but rapidly slipped beyond all mortal control, breaking into southern Silverpine and storming the bastion. Baron Silverlaine and his entire court were massacred, doomed to haunt the stone halls alongside the feral monsters that overran their home.
