Pyrewood Village

Pyrewood Village is an isolated human settlement nestled in southern Silverpine Forest beneath Shadowfang Keep. Originally part of Gilneas before being stranded outside the Greymane Wall, its living residents harbor a horrific secret brought upon them by the mad archmage Arugal.

Pyrewood was once a prosperous Gilnean settlement owned by Lord Darius Crowley. When King Genn Greymane chose to isolate his kingdom behind the massive Greymane Wall following the Second War, Pyrewood and its neighbor Ambermill were abandoned on the northern side. Cut off from their homeland, the townsfolk were left entirely defenseless during the Third War as the Scourge marched across Lordaeron. Though they managed to survive the initial wave of the undead, their true nightmare began when the mage Arugal took refuge in the fortress above.
