Riverglades

The story

The Riverglades is a contested river valley east of the Burning Steppes and Badlands, historically claimed by the Kingdom of Stormwind. Overrun by the Old Horde during the First War and largely abandoned by the crown, the region remains a battleground as local human loyalists clash with modern Horde outposts and local wildlife. It borders Redridge Mountains to the southwest, Swamp of Sorrows to the south, and faces Tanaris across the sea.

Historically part of the Kingdom of Stormwind, the Riverglades fell into ruin during the First War when the Old Horde swept through the region. Its central settlement, Sunnyglade, was sacked by the orcs, who spared its mage tower solely to study human sorcery before enslaving the surviving townsfolk. Though Stormwind soldiers mounted an effort to liberate the captives and rebuild, the kingdom eventually deemed the entire valley lost and diverted resources toward defending the core homelands. For years, the region remained largely cut off from formal crown support.
