Darkspear Islands

Off the coast of Kalimdor lie the ceremonial islands of the Darkspear trolls, now a battleground where the Horde and the Alliance fight for every camp, ruin and tower. For the Horde, and above all for Vol'jin's trolls, the isles are sacred ground that must never fall to outsiders; for the Alliance, they are a foothold off Kalimdor's shore and a chance to strike at one of the Horde's proudest peoples. Victory goes to the side that captures and holds the islands' strongpoints, seizes the Darkspear Islands flag and gathers 2000 resources first.

Sacred Isles of the Darkspear

The Darkspear are an island people. Driven out of Stranglethorn Vale by their larger, crueler rivals, they made their lives among the islands of the southern seas, and they keep these isles off Kalimdor's coast for their rites and for the loa they honor. It was on islands like these that Thrall's storm-wrecked fleet found Sen'jin's people beset by Kul Tiran sailors, murlocs and a sea witch, and there that the trolls first swore themselves to the Horde. To a Darkspear, an enemy banner raised over the ceremonial grounds is a desecration as much as a defeat.

Two Sides, Two Reasons

For the Horde, holding the isles is a debt of honor. The Darkspear stood with Thrall when the Horde had little else, and orcs, tauren and Forsaken fight beside them so that the trolls' holy ground stays theirs. For the Alliance, the islands are a foothold off Kalimdor's coast and a way to strike at the Horde where its pride runs deepest. Neither side speaks of peace here: every landing is answered, and every camp that falls is fought for again.

The Shape of the Battle

No army can hold the islands by numbers alone. The fighting ranges from the Camp and the old Ruins to the Abandoned Tower and Shipwreck Cove, and the side that captures and holds the islands' strongpoints builds up its store of resources. A single banner, the Darkspear Islands flag, can turn the tide for whoever seizes it. The first side to gather 2000 resources wins the day and drives its enemies back to their ships, until the next landing.
