Darkspear tribe

The Darkspear are a tribe of jungle trolls who joined Thrall's Horde after being driven from their ancestral home in Stranglethorn Vale and rescued from a sea witch in the Great Sea. Led by Shadow Hunter Vol'jin from their temporary refuge at Sen'jin Village, they now serve as core members of the Horde across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Despite their alliance, they currently struggle to reclaim their new home, the Echo Isles, from the traitorous witch doctor Zalazane.

Exile and Salvation

Originally a smaller, less ruthless tribe within the broken Gurubashi Empire of Stranglethorn Vale, the Darkspear endured centuries of warfare and famine against brutal neighbors like the Bloodscalp and Skullsplitter tribes. Driven out to sea, they settled on remote islands, only to face aquatic murlocs, Kul Tiran sailors, and a naga sea witch. Their elder chieftain, Sen'jin, was captured and slain in dark sacrificial rites beneath the sea, but before dying he foretold that the orc Warchief Thrall would lead the Darkspear to a new destiny. Rescued by Thrall's passing fleet, the survivors pledged their undying loyalty to the new Horde and sailed westward to Kalimdor.

Voodoo and the New Horde

Unlike their cannibalistic jungle kin, the Darkspear have adapted rapidly to the Horde's values of honor, establishing enclaves like Malaka'jin in the Stonetalon Mountains, Shadowprey Village in Desolace, and Zoram'gar Outpost in Ashenvale. In Orgrimmar, they make their spiritual home within the Valley of Spirits, where shadow hunters and witch doctors commune with the loa. Though respected for their scouts, bat riders, and powerful hexes, old traditions run deep; some ancient rituals frowned upon by their allies are still practiced quietly in the dark.
