Stormwind Army
The Stormwind Army is the standing military force charged with defending the Kingdom of Stormwind and preserving the security of the Grand Alliance in the south. Though legendary for its resilient knights and marshals, the army is currently crippled by royal absence, political infighting, and crippling troop shortages across the provinces.
A Legacy of Iron and Blood
The army traces its martial lineage through centuries of brutal conflict, from early frontier clashes against gnolls to the desperate defense against the Gurubashi trolls. In the First War, under King Llane Wrynn I and Sir Anduin Lothar, the Knights of Stormwind mounted legendary ambushes against the Orcish Horde, yet fell when the capital burned. Surviving remnants evacuated to Lordaeron, spearheading the formation of the Alliance of Lordaeron and fighting through the Second War. After the Dark Portal's fall, Stormwind's military was rebuilt alongside the restored kingdom.
Structure and Ranks
Headquartered within Stormwind Keep, the military relies on dedicated regional garrisons overseen by the Stormwind Marshals. Within the stone walls of the capital, the Stormwind City Guard maintains civil order, while the elite Royal Guard attends the boy-king Anduin Wrynn and Highlord Bolvar Fordragon. Beyond the gates, the army deploys outposts to patrol Elwynn Forest, keep order along trade roads, and man defensive ramparts as far as the Redridge Mountains, assisted on the water by the Stormwind Fleet.
