New Horde

The New Horde is the modern coalition forged under Warchief Thrall, departing from the bloodthirsty, demon-corrupted Old Horde of the First and Second Wars. Founded upon shamanic tradition, honor, and mutual survival, it unites the liberated orcs, the Darkspear trolls, the tauren tribes of Kalimdor, and a tenuous pact with the Forsaken in Lordaeron.

A Legacy Reborn

The original Horde was a weapon crafted by the Burning Legion and the Shadow Council, fueling the orcs with demonic bloodlust and driving them across the Dark Portal. After the Second War ended in devastation, surviving orcs were rounded up into Alliance internment camps, sinking into a soul-draining lethargy. Through the efforts of Orgrim Doomhammer, Grommash Hellscream, and the young shaman Thrall, the orcs cast off their demonic shackles, rediscovered their ancestral shamanism, and fought their way to freedom.

Crossing the Great Sea

Following prophetic visions from the mysterious Prophet, Thrall led his people across the Great Sea to the untamed continent of Kalimdor. Along the way, the Horde welcomed Sen'jin's displaced Darkspear trolls. Upon arriving on Kalimdor, Thrall allied with Cairne Bloodhoof and the nomadic tauren, helping drive back hostile centaur tribes. Together, these disparate peoples fought alongside humans and night elves at Mount Hyjal, breaking the Burning Legion's invasion and carving out their new home of Durotar.

The Modern Coalition

Today, the New Horde strives to build a durable society from their fortified capital of Orgrimmar. While anchored by the strong bond between orcs, Darkspear trolls, and tauren, survival has forced Thrall to accept uncomfortable alliances—chief among them Sylvanas Windrunner and the Forsaken in the ruins of Lordaeron. Thrall pursues an uneasy peace with the Alliance, but old enmities, resource shortages, and hawkish elements among both factions keep borders simmering on the brink of war.
