Hunter
Masters of wilderness survival and deadly marksmanship, hunters roam the untamed reaches of Azeroth alongside fierce beast companions. Armed with bows, rifles, or crossbows, they excel at harassing enemies from a distance while relying on clever traps and primal aspects to control the flow of battle. Whether tracking elusive quarry across snowcapped peaks or stalking prey through dense forests, they live by their wits and connection to nature.
Kinship with the Wild
At the heart of every hunter lies an instinctual empathy for the primal world. Unlike those who exploit nature or isolate themselves within stone bastions, hunters immerse themselves entirely in untamed lands. They study the habits, movements, and strengths of predatory beasts, earning their respect rather than breaking their spirits. Through patient bonding, a hunter tames dangerous creatures—such as fierce prowling cats, stubborn mountain bears, and sharp-eyed raptors—turning wild animals into steadfast allies that defend them to the death.
Master Marksmen and Trackers
On the battlefield, hunters dictate the terms of engagement from a safe distance. Armed with bows, heavy crossbows, or calibrated rifles, they unleash deadly volleys that pierce through heavy armor before an attacker can even draw near. Their finely honed senses make them peerless trackers, capable of tracing the faintest footsteps, scents, and disturbances left by quarry. When foes attempt to close the distance, hunters deploy frost and flame traps, disorienting ambushes, or agile evasive maneuvers to keep enemies right where they want them.
Traditions Across Cultures
The path of the hunter manifests differently among the various cultures of Azeroth. Night elf Sentinels embody ancient marksmanship and stealth beneath the canopy of Ashenvale, utilizing bows and shadowcraft in quiet harmony with the wilderness. Dwarven riflemen brave the freezing crags of Dun Morogh alongside hardy bears, mastering the engineering of gunpowder. Across Kalimdor, Tauren and Orc trackers honor ancient nomadic customs, running down their prey with sacred respect and calling upon bestial spirits to guide their shots. In Elwynn Forest, young humans learn the trade from seasoned trackers like the dwarf Tordrin Sternblade in Northshire Valley and Josephine Carson in Goldshire, and the Skyborne learn to track and tame the beasts of Zephras Isle.
