Dragonmaw clan
The Dragonmaw clan is an infamous orcish faction notorious for subduing and riding red dragons during the Second War. Guided by dark artifacts and foul magic, they imprisoned the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza beneath the cursed halls of Grim Batol until her liberation shattered their dominion. Today, their scattered remnants lurk in the wetlands and mountains of Khaz Modan, remaining hostile to both the Alliance and Thrall's New Horde.
From Draenor to Azeroth
The Dragonmaw clan hailed from Draenor and crossed the Dark Portal with the Old Horde. On Azeroth, they turned their talents to subjugating its winged terrors.
The Demon Soul and Grim Batol
Guided by whispers from the black dragon Deathwing, the clan's chieftain, Zuluhed the Whacked, recovered an ancient golden disk: the Dragon Soul. Zuluhed entrusted this relic to his greatest warlock, Nekros Skullcrusher, who tapped into its fel taint and christened it the Demon Soul. Using the artifact's agonizing power, Nekros ensnared Alexstrasza the Life-Binder herself. The Dragonmaw fortified the abandoned dwarven bastion of Grim Batol, keeping the Dragonqueen chained in darkness and forcing her red dragon brood to serve the Old Horde as aerial dreadnoughts during the Second War.
The Fall of the Dragon Riders
The Dragonmaw reign ended when the Demon Soul was finally destroyed, freeing Alexstrasza and her flight from their psychic torment. Alexstrasza devoured Nekros Skullcrusher, and her vengeful flight laid waste to Grim Batol, breaking the clan's back. Routed and terrified, the surviving Dragonmaw scattered into the marshy bogs of the Wetlands and the jagged peaks around Grim Batol. The remnants on Azeroth live as desperate, feral renegades, fiercely guarding their dwindling encampments against dwarven patrols and vengeful dragons alike.
