Southern Gold Road

The Southern Gold Road is the vital desert thoroughfare stretching through the southern half of the Barrens, linking the central plains to the Great Lift. It serves as an indispensable artery for regional trade, carrying caravans, supplies, and wayfarers traveling between distant reaches of Kalimdor.

Officially beginning at the stone bridge dividing the northern and southern halves of the Barrens, the Southern Gold Road runs directly south until it meets the Great Lift leading down into the Thousand Needles. Like the northern portion simply named the Gold Road, this dusty highway derives its moniker from the endless stream of lucrative merchant caravans that trek along its length. Despite constant harassment from local quilboar tribes and predators prowling the savannah, it remains one of the busiest long-distance paths on the continent, ferrying goods between remote outposts and bustling ports.
