Pool of Tears
The Pool of Tears is a large, murky lake dominating the eastern reaches of the Swamp of Sorrows. Deep beneath its surface lies the sunken Temple of Atal'Hakkar, brought low by the Green Dragonflight to contain the horrors within. Today, vicious frenzies patrol the turbid waters, and ancient troll ruins litter its drowned banks.
A Drowned Sanctuary
Long ago, fanatical Atal'ai trolls raised a monumental ziggurat to their bloodthirsty god, Hakkar the Soulflayer. Horrified by the blasphemies taking place within, the Dragon Aspect Ysera shattered the ground beneath the structure, submerging the massive temple into the depths of the marsh. The existing lake flooded over the temple ruins. While the dragons sought to bury the evil forever, the ziggurat still stands beneath the silt and waves, and green drakes remain vigilant in the area to keep its corruption sealed.
Waters of Peril
Navigating the murky lake is treacherous for any adventurer heading toward the sunken halls. Flesh-eating frenzies infest the waters, while Atal'ai artifacts and drowned stonework remain scattered across the muddy floor. Travelers must brave these hostile shallows to access the upper passages of the submerged temple, where cultists and lingering dragon guardians vie for control of the dark sanctuary.
