Plaguewood
Once a peaceful woodland known as Greenwood, the Plaguewood is now a blighted, fungus-choked expanse stretching south of Stratholme. Crawling with Scourge infrastructure and patrolling Scarlet Crusaders, it stands as one of the most corrupt corners of the Eastern Plaguelands.
From Greenwood to Decay
Before the Third War, this region was Greenwood, a vibrant forest that mirrored the lush woods of Elwynn. A modest village sat near its entrance, and its roads were traveled by farmers and soldiers alike. All of that collapsed when tainted grain arrived from Andorhal. Today, spongy, corrupted soil has taken the place of rich earth, and titanic mushrooms dwarf the dead trees, constantly spewing noxious brown vapors across the woodland floor.
A Bastion of the Dead
Now completely claimed by the Scourge, the Plaguewood serves as a grim staging ground for the undead surrounding Stratholme. Ziggurats and slaughterhouses dot the decayed landscape, churning out abominations and cultists. To make matters worse for travelers, fanatic Scarlet Crusaders relentlessly patrol the road toward Stratholme's gates, eager to purge the Scourge and brutally slaughter any living wanderers they encounter.
