Freewind Post

The story

Freewind Post is the primary Horde outpost in Thousand Needles, perched high atop one of the canyon's dramatic stone mesas. Accessible primarily by tauren lift and winding rope bridges, it serves as a defensive refuge against centaur warbands and a vital frontier staging ground.

Built directly upon the canyon mesas, Freewind Post relies on ingenuity and height to safeguard its people. The Galak centaur dominate the arid canyon floor below, but they cannot effectively scale the towering cliffs or breach the heavy wooden elevators that haul Horde travelers up into the sky. A labyrinth of rope and plank bridges connects Freewind to neighboring spires, forming a secure aerie. Beyond keeping centaur raiding parties at bay, the outpost also helps manage the screeching harpies nesting along the bluffs and tends to the nearby wyvern grounds at Highperch, where wild eggs are culled and trained as loyal wind rider mounts for the Horde.
