Ameth'Aran

Ameth'Aran is an ancient ruin in southern Darkshore, once a thriving city where Queen Azshara's Highborne practiced arcane sorcery. When the Great Sundering shattered the ancient world, the city fell with it. Today, its broken colonnades are haunted by the vengeful ghosts of the elves who died there.

Before the Great Sundering, Ameth'Aran and its sister settlement, Bashal'Aran, stood as twin centers of Highborne influence along the ancient coastline. Under the favor of Queen Azshara, the city boasted bustling bazaars and graceful shrines to Elune, though its ruling nobility dedicated themselves to unrestrained arcane experimentation. Governed from afar by the sorcerer Athrikus Narassin in the Tower of Althalaxx, the city thrived until the catastrophic collapse of the Well of Eternity tore the Kaldorei Empire apart.
