WoW Forever Invite-A-Friend Codes: Who Gets Them, Nov 4-11
An Invite-A-Friend Launch Code lets one friend play World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) without a subscription or Game Time from November 4 through November 11, 2026; the Skyborne Heroic Pack includes one code, and the Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection include three each. Blizzard says the codes are emailed starting October 20, 2026 and are redeemed through Battle.net.
Quick answer: Buy an upgrade, find the code email, send the code to a friend, and they redeem it on their own Battle.net account for launch week. The codes give no beta access, gift purchases are excluded, and Blizzard says other restrictions apply.

A road is better walked with company, and Blizzard has opened the first week of it to people who have not paid for the game. The details are short, and a few are still missing.

Who gets Invite-A-Friend codes, and how many?
Blizzard's pre-purchase article ties the codes to the upgrade packs. The Skyborne Heroic Pack includes one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code; the Skyborne Epic Pack, which adds beta access and 30 days of Game Time from November 4, brings the total to three, and so does the Warcraft Forever Collection, available through January 11, 2027. Blizzard says gift purchases are excluded. Gfinity Esports adds that upgrading from Heroic to Epic adds two codes and that each code arrives in its own email. See the editions guide and subscription cost.
How does a friend redeem a code and what do they get?
You copy the code from the email and send it to your friend. Blizzard says eligible invitees can redeem it through Battle.net to play WoW Forever during the launch-week window without a subscription or Game Time. TimeSaver's guide, published October 20, says the friend should redeem it on their own Battle.net account and that nobody should share logins. Gfinity says friends using the codes do not get the Skyborne race or its starting zones; TimeSaver names the Zephras Isle start and adds that the codes do not include early name reservation.
Can friends from different rulesets or factions play together?
Not necessarily. Blizzard's ruleset article says groups, dungeons and raids are limited to players on the same ruleset, and Horde and Alliance cannot group. A friend who wants to group with you would therefore need the same ruleset and faction as you. Our guide to playing with friends and rulesets guide explain the choice.
What happens after November 11?
This is the open question. Blizzard's article gives the window end date and nothing on what follows. Gfinity, which quotes no Blizzard text for this, says friends need a paid subscription after launch week, and TimeSaver says Blizzard has not said what happens to the friend's characters. A player on Blizzard's forum asked on October 23 whether a redeemed account can keep its characters with a standard subscription after November 11; the thread I opened had no Blizzard reply.
What is not confirmed yet
- Who is eligible: the pre-purchase article does not say whether codes are limited to new or returning players; it lists "other restrictions" and links a Blizzard support article, which I could not open.
- The exact end time on November 11. Blizzard gives dates in PST only.
- What happens to a trial account's characters after the window.
- Codes in the inbox: TimeSaver says emails roll out over time, so check spam and promotions folders.
If you are inviting a friend, Willo, the Windows companion app, has a Friends tab that shows who is out in the world and where they were last seen when they share it, which can help a group find each other; see also how to make friends.
