WoW Forever Gold Farming: Where Gold Comes From and What to Save For
In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), gold comes from loot, vendor sales and the ore, herbs and leather you gather and sell to other players, and Blizzard has said there will be no WoW Token or character boost at launch to skip that road. No Blizzard or major-outlet source has published a verified farming spot or gold-per-hour figure for Forever, so treat any "best farm" claim as unproven.
Quick answer: Loot every fight, pair gathering professions with your route and sell what you do not need. Beta guides put Apprentice Riding at about 100 gold at level 40 and Journeyman Riding at 1,000 gold at level 60.

Every village innkeeper knows the same truth: a full purse is a road you have already walked. Gold in Azeroth gathers slowly, one pelt and one copper vein at a time, and it leaves at the trainer's door, the anvil and the stable.
Key facts
- No shortcut: no WoW Tokens or character boosts at launch, per a BlizzCon interview with the WoW Classic team (Warcraft Tavern, September 14, 2026)
- First mount: Apprentice Riding unlocks at level 40 for about 100 gold (Method, MeinMMO, Warcraft Tavern)
- Epic riding: Journeyman Riding at level 60 costs 1,000 gold, and epic mounts 200 gold each (Method, Warcraft Tavern)
- Discount: Honored with your home faction gives 10% off Riding and racial mounts (Method, Warcraft Tavern)
- Vendor prices: the Legacy talent Bartering lowers the gold price of vendor items (Blizzard)
- Trading: no trade or mail between rulesets (Icy Veins)
- Gold buying: Blizzard's Josh Greenfield said it will "very aggressively punish gold buyers" (80.lv)
How do you earn gold in WoW Forever?
The wild pays in small coin, and the careful traveler leaves none on the ground. MeinMMO's beginner guide (October 21, 2026) says players saving for a first mount should not leave loot behind or buy needlessly from vendors and the Auction House. It suggests two gathering professions, such as Skinning and Herbalism, and warns against two crafting professions with no gatherer, because you would buy every reagent.
Warcraft Tavern says spare skinning materials can be sold on the Auction House, and Icy Veins says herbs sell to players who need them. Warcraft Tavern's Mining guide adds that ore nodes now have dynamic spawn rates, so more players nearby means faster respawns. See the mining guide, herbalism guide, auction house guide and gold-making overview.
What changes about gold in WoW Forever?
Forever adds new ledgers to the old purse. Blizzard's Legacy overview lists Bartering (cheaper vendor prices), Frequent Flier (cheaper, faster flights), Reagent Economy (class abilities no longer need vendor reagents), Reinforce (less durability damage from death) and Bountiful Harvest (more Scarce resources from mining, herbing and skinning). Warcraft Tavern, reporting a BlizzCon demo, gives Frequent Flier as 50% off flights. See the Legacy guide.
Camping adds field services. Warcraft Tavern lists Engineering camp items at skill 20 (Reagent Bot) and 140 (Repair Bot), and says the Reagent Bot buys and sells while the second-tier object repairs gear. See the camping guide. Your market is also your ruleset, because trade stops at its border.
What do you need gold for at each level?
The road asks for coin in small ways long before the stable door opens. Warcraft Tavern says trainers teach profession tiers at levels 10, 20 and 35, but no source we found publishes trainer fees, bag prices or repair costs.
At level 40, MeinMMO says to budget about 100 gold for Riding and your first mount. At level 60, Method and Warcraft Tavern give 1,000 gold for Journeyman Riding and 200 gold per epic mount. MeinMMO advises postponing big purchases until level 60. Respecs are unsettled: Blizzard's beta notes, quoted by Warcraft Tavern, set them at 1 silver for the beta only, for players who had not recently changed talents, while AllThings. How listed 1 gold, then 5, rising to a 50 gold cap. See the leveling guide.
Is there a best gold farm in WoW Forever?
Travelers love to point at a hillside and swear it is paved with silver. The beta ended at level 30, so no one has tested a farm for levels 31 to 60. The one farming guide we opened with concrete numbers comes from U4N, a gold-selling site, and reports 13 gold 25 silver in about 6.5 hours from a single beta session, which it calls no guaranteed launch yield. COGconnected (October 19) concludes: "Any guide claiming firm Forever prices before launch is guessing."
What should you avoid?
The road has thieves, and some sell you gold. Greenfield said Blizzard has probably been too lenient with gold buyers and did not rule out permanent bans (80.lv, September 24). In mid-October Blizzard described a Temporary Economy Hold, already met by some beta players, that restricts trade, mail, guild banks and the Auction House only for accounts suspected of real-money trading, and warned of false positives (Blizzard forums, October 13; GamesRadar, October 14).
Blizzard also said it is "not going to allow GDKP," where raiders bid gold for loot (Icy Veins, September 17); Inven reports Clay Stone saying the ban covers North America and Europe only. The free Lore Forever add-on shows zone and quest background as you travel, is fan-made and does not earn or trade gold.
What is not confirmed yet

- Bartering: Blizzard says vendor items, while Method says mounts only, up to 10%.
