WoW Forever Early Name Reservation: Dates, Who Qualifies and How to Claim

Early Name Reservation lets players who pre-purchased a World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) upgrade pack claim names for up to three characters from October 27 through November 3, 2026, a day before the game launches on November 4. Names are handed out first-come, first-served, and Blizzard says a desired name cannot be guaranteed.

Quick answer: To reserve, you need the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection, plus the WoW: Forever client installed through Battle.net. In North America the window opens at 1:00 p.m. PDT on October 27. Details as of October 24, 2026.

Early Name Reservation window and limits
A timeline of the WoW Forever name window: it opens October 27 at 1 p.m. PDT in North America and 18:00 CET in Europe, opens October 28 at 07:00 in Korea and Taiwan, closes November 3, and the game launches November 4; up to three names across all rulesets, first-come first-served.

Before the first road is walked, there is the question of what the road will call you. A name is the first thing a stranger hears at the inn door, and in Forever it is the thing a whole region will know you by. This autumn Blizzard lets some travelers claim theirs before the gates open.

Who can reserve a name in WoW Forever?

The gate is a purchase, not a subscription. Blizzard's announcement says players who pre-purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection get access. Blizzard's pre-purchase page lists Early Name Reservation among the Heroic Pack's contents, and the Epic Pack and the Collection include everything in the Heroic Pack.

The benefit applies only to the WoW account the purchase was made for. A footnote in the announcement also mentions the Digital Upgrade and the Collector's Edition, and TechRadar lists both as qualifying. Blizzard Watch adds that beta access does not guarantee early reservation: beta players must buy an upgrade or wait for launch. Read what each edition includes and how the Skyborne pack unlocks the race.

When does Early Name Reservation open in your region?

Blizzard staggers the opening by region. North America opens on October 27 at 1:00 p.m. PDT, which is 4:00 p.m. EDT (Icy Veins). Europe opens the same day at 18:00 CET. Korea and Taiwan open on October 28 at 07:00 local time. Every region closes on November 3, the day before launch.

The game itself launches on November 4, 2026, and Blizzard Watch says there is no separate early-access period. For launch hours in your time zone, see what time WoW Forever launches.

How do you reserve your WoW Forever names, step by step?

A reservation is made by creating the character, so the client must be ready before the window opens. Blizzard's steps are:

  1. Update your graphics drivers.
  2. Install the Battle.net desktop app and let it update.
  3. Select World of Warcraft, then choose World of Warcraft: Forever in the Game Version menu and install it.
  4. After installing, press Play and choose a ruleset.
  5. Create up to three characters with the names you want.

Our launch-day hardware notes cover what the client asks of your machine. The free Lore Forever add-on and the optional Willo voice companion are fan-made and do not affect reservations.

How do two-part names work in WoW Forever?

Azeroth has no realms in Forever, so a name no longer belongs to a single server. Blizzard's naming article says every character has two names that together form the full name, and that each full name must be unique within a region. Asha Brightvale, Thalen Brightvale and Mira Brightvale share a second name, which Blizzard presents as a family-style example.

Names must follow the in-game naming code of conduct. Blizzard says certain words, spellings and repeated-character patterns may be restricted, and that splitting a restricted word across the two parts does not make it valid. Players can hide a second name in the world through Escape, Options, Nameplates, "My Secondary Name"; it still appears in chat.

Does the three-name limit count across rulesets?

Yes. Blizzard says you can reserve up to three characters total across all rulesets. Two PvP characters, for example, leave room for only one more on Normal or Roleplaying, and Blizzard says that restriction applies only to Early Name Reservation. Our rulesets guide explains the choices.

Blizzard's October 22 update says the Roleplay-PvP ruleset is arriving for launch and that it plans to make it available with Early Name Reservation, so check that it appears when the window opens. Hardcore is not a launch ruleset. See the RP-PvP guide.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Blizzard's announcement does not say what happens to reserved names on November 4, or to names left unclaimed.
  • Whether the standard Digital Upgrade, on its own, qualifies is unclear: the footnote names it, the main text lists only the three packs.
  • Blizzard has not answered, on its forum thread, whether a name can be reserved without creating the character.
  • Blizzard's naming article does not say whether a name can be changed later.
  • Blizzard says Roleplay-PvP availability during the window is planned, not certain.
