Stonemasons Guild
The Stonemasons Guild was the collective of master builders and artisans responsible for reconstructing Stormwind City after the Second War. Following a bitter dispute over payment with the House of Nobles that ended in deadly riots, the guild was forcibly dissolved, driving its disenfranchised members into exile while leaving the true fate of its scattered artisans an enduring mystery.
Architects of the Realm
Led by elected Guildmaster Edwin VanCleef, the artisans of the Stonemasons Guild demonstrated a mastery of masonry that rivaled the Royal Stonecutters Union of the dwarves. Following the devastation of the First and Second Wars, the House of Nobles hired the guild to embark upon the monumental task of rebuilding Stormwind City from ruins, trusting them to restore the capital to its ancient grandeur.
Toil and Betrayal
For years, VanCleef and an army of craftsmen toiled through Elwynn, raising the soaring spires of Stormwind Keep and the massive arches of the Cathedral of Light. However, royal finances collapsed under heavy military debts incurred in southern campaigns. Influenced by aristocratic politics, the House of Nobles refused to pay the guild their agreed salaries and fees. When VanCleef petitioned for restitution, the nobles answered by unilaterally disbanding the guild, sparking immense fury among the laborers who had bled to rebuild the city.
