Skywall
Skywall is the vast, storm-swept domain of the air elementals within the Elemental Plane. Banished here by the titans in ancient days, the creatures of wind, cloud, and lightning dwell under the reign of Al'Akir the Windlord.
A Prison in the Heavens
When the titans overthrew the Old Gods eons ago, they crafted the Elemental Plane as a secure dimensional prison to contain Azeroth's unruly elemental spirits. The lords of the elements fought fiercely amongst themselves, ultimately carving out distinct dominions. The realm of wind and storm became known as Skywall, ruled by Al'Akir the Windlord. While sealed away from the surface world, its tempests continue to swirl in eternal isolation.
The War of Elements
Banishment did not end the ancient animosity between the elemental rulers. Skywall has long waged border disputes against neighboring realms like the Firelands. One of the most infamous clashes was the Elemental Sundering, wherein Prince Thunderaan the Windseeker was ambushed and betrayed by Garr and Baron Geddon, the chief lieutenants of Ragnaros the Firelord. Ragnaros devoured the prince's essence and bound the fragments into a shattered talisman.
Isles of the Mist
Skywall is not composed solely of raging gales and djinn citadels. Among the cloudbanks drifts Zephras Isle, a sanctuary inhabited by the Shen'dorei. Mortals on Azeroth rarely pierce the veil into the domain of air, though reckless spellcasters and weapon-crafters across history have courted disaster attempting to siphon the living storms of the Windlord.
