Thunderaan

Prince Thunderaan is the ancient Prince of Air, a colossal elemental struck down and betrayed during the ancient wars between fire and wind. Consumed in part by Ragnaros the Firelord, his remnant essence was sealed into shattered bindings entrusted to the Firelord's lieutenants. Adventurers who recover these relics can seek out Highlord Demitrian in Silithus to unleash him once more.

The Elemental Sundering

Long ago, during the Elemental Sundering—a five-thousand-year clash fought between the forces of fire and air deep within Azeroth—Ragnaros sought to destroy and consume Thunderaan. The Prince was ambushed and betrayed by Ragnaros's powerful lieutenants, Baron Geddon and Garr, before being struck down by the Firelord's hammer, Sulfuras. Although defeated, Thunderaan's essence proved too mighty for Ragnaros to fully absorb.

The Shattered Talisman

Unable to entirely devour the Prince of Air, Ragnaros sealed what little remained of Thunderaan's essence inside a talisman of elemental binding. To prevent the Prince from ever reforming, the Firelord shattered the talisman into two flawless halves. He entrusted one piece to Baron Geddon and the other to Garr, hiding both within the volcanic depths of the Molten Core beneath Blackrock Mountain.
