Royal Apothecary Society
The Royal Apothecary Society is an alchemical guild established under Lady Sylvanas Windrunner and based in the Apothecarium beneath the Undercity. Composed of Forsaken researchers, its primary mission is compounding a lethal New Plague capable of eradicating the Scourge while claiming vengeance against the living. While Horde allies believe the society seeks a cure for undeath, its researchers actively harvest venoms, slimes, and toxic reagents across Azeroth to perfect weapons of mass destruction.
Vengeance Through Alchemy
Founded in the wake of the Forsaken's liberation, the Royal Apothecary Society serves as the scientific and alchemical arm of Lady Sylvanas Windrunner's kingdom. From their vats and subterranean laboratories in the Apothecarium, researchers seek to weaponize the very force that damned them. Their preeminent endeavor is the creation of a 'New Plague'—a concoction intended to eradicate the Scourge and destroy the Lich King. Unlike traditional human alchemy, which prioritizes elixirs of healing or transmutation, the Society experiments ruthlessly with foul pathogens, caustic acids, and necromantic blends, raising fallen warhorses as skeletal steeds and brewing deadlier strains of toxic blight.
Outposts Across Azeroth
The reach of the Apothecary Society extends far beyond the canals of the Undercity. Field apothecaries are dispatched to remote outposts across Lordaeron and Kalimdor. In Silverpine and Hillsbrad, agents like Apothecaries Renferrel and Lydon gather local floras and distill venoms. In the arid Barrens, Apothecary Helbrim catalogs strange desert flora and creatures, while Apothecary Zamah operates beneath Thunder Bluff in the Pools of Vision. Wherever natural toxins, shifting oozes, or virulent organisms exist, the Society sends acolytes to collect samples for the Apothecarium's cauldrons.
