Druid

Druids are guardians of the natural world who draw power directly from the wild spirits, the celestial bodies, and the Emerald Dream. Master shapeshifters, they adopt the forms of primal beasts to protect the land or mend grievous wounds. Practiced primarily by the night elves, newly revived among the tauren and kept alive by the Skyborne, druids place the preservation of nature above all mortal allegiance.

Wardens of the Wilds

Druidism is far more than a martial art; it is an ancient way of life rooted in deep communion with nature and the demigod Cenarius. Druids wield raw natural energies, commanding roots to entangle their foes, directing the celestial brilliance of the moon and stars, and invoking restorative flora to knit bone and flesh. Their duty is to preserve the cosmic balance and protect the unfettered wild from exploitation and corruption.

The Gift of Shapeshifting

The defining hallmark of the druid is the supernatural art of shapeshifting. Through spiritual devotion, practitioners channel the primal aspects of Azeroth's beasts. They take on the thick hide of the bear to withstand crushing assaults, slip into the lithe form of the feline predator to strike from the shadows, or adopt aquatic and avian shapes to traverse sea and sky. While transformed, their animal mouths can rarely form mortal words, yet their physical prowess rivals the apex predators of the wild.

The Cenarion Circle

First taught to Malfurion Stormrage by Cenarius ten thousand years ago, mortal druidism was later formalized under the Cenarion Circle. Headquartered in sacred Moonglade, the Circle watches over druidic practices across Kalimdor, standing independent of mortal factions and political squabbles. While long dominated solely by night elf men who spent centuries slumbering in the Emerald Dream, the aftermath of the Third War saw both night elf women and the tauren welcomed into its fold.

Druids of the Skyborne

Druidism reached the Skyborne long ago. When the Shal'nan's rebellion rose against Prince Tortheldrin in Eldre'Thalas, the common folk who joined it took up nature magic, influenced by the Cenarion Circle to the north, while Tortheldrin scorned it as beneath the Highborne. Their descendants still practice it: the Nightclaw Druids of Shadowgale Forest on Zephras Isle keep largely to themselves, apart from the other Skyborne factions.
