Cenarion Circle
The Cenarion Circle is an ancient, independent order of druids founded by Malfurion Stormrage under the guidance of the demigod Cenarius. Operating from their sacred haven in Moonglade, they strive to maintain the balance of nature, safeguard the Emerald Dream, and mend Azeroth's blighted lands. Though historically composed of night elves, they have recently welcomed the tauren into their ranks, transcending factional divides to defend the living world.
Origins of the Circle
The roots of the Cenarion Circle go back thousands of years to the teachings of Cenarius, the Patron of Druids, who mentored the first mortal druid, Malfurion Stormrage. Following the Great Sundering, Malfurion bound together those who wished to study nature's ways. The order made its home in the sacred vale of Moonglade, and ever since, the Circle has held sacred vigil over Azeroth's wild places.
A Sacred Neutrality
While deeply intertwined with night elf history, the Cenarion Circle exists independently of Darnassus and the Sisterhood of Elune. Their heart remains the enchanted valley of Moonglade, centered around the peaceful town of Nighthaven, where weapons are sheathed and the wars of mortals hold no sway. This ancient neutrality was demonstrated anew following the Third War, when Malfurion befriended the tauren elder Hamuul Runetotem. Recognizing the tauren people's profound spiritual reverence for the Earth Mother, the Circle formally inducted Hamuul, reintroducing druidism to his race after thousands of years.
