Black dragonflight

Once the stalwart Earth-Warders charged by the titans to safeguard Azeroth's deep subterranean realms, the black dragonflight fell to madness and treachery. Corrupted by the insidious whispers of the imprisoned Old Gods, their leader Neltharion became Deathwing, turning his brood into one of the most destructive and hated forces on the planet. Today, their surviving scions weave plots from the shadows and wage covert wars against mortal kingdoms.

The Fallen Protectors

Long ago, the Titan Khaz'goroth bestowed his blessing upon Neltharion, creating the black dragonflight to watch over the earth, raise mountains, and guard Azeroth's deep caverns. For ages, they stood alongside the other flights as patient, unyielding guardians. Yet their intimate bond with the world's subterranean foundations proved their undoing. Dwelling within the deepest hollows, they lay dangerously close to the sunken prisons of the Old Gods. Over centuries, dark whispers eroded the noble Earth-Warder's mind, driving him to madness and twisting his entire brood into vicious instruments of ruin.

Betrayal and Fire

During the ancient War of the Ancients, Neltharion shattered the unity of dragonkind, turning upon his kin as Deathwing the Destroyer. Ever since, the black flight has waged relentless, spiteful war against the red, blue, green, and bronze flights, who view their cruelty as an absolute profanation of life. Rather than tending the soil, black dragons now wield molten magma, black magic, and searing brimstone to scorch the lands they once nurtured, finding delight in sowing discord, misery, and endless strife across mortal realms.
