Stonard
Stonard is a fortified Horde outpost situated in the southern marshes of the Swamp of Sorrows. Originally built during the First War, it serves the modern Horde as an essential foothold in the southern Eastern Kingdoms and an observation post watching the Blasted Lands.
A Relic of the First War
Stonard stands as one of the oldest orcish settlements on Azeroth. First established when the Old Horde spilled through the Dark Portal into what was once the Black Morass, Stonard and its sister post, Rockard, anchored the invaders' lines. Though abandoned and damaged during the fallout of the Second War, Thrall's New Horde moved to reconstruct and garrison Stonard. Anchored by a traditional orcish Great Hall and fortified burrows, the outpost is now a vital island of Horde authority in an untamed, perilous mire.
Frontier Outpost
Modern Stonard functions as both an expeditionary camp and a staging ground. Cartographers and scouts fan out across the surrounding muck to map the uncharted swamp and monitor hostile native beasts, lost draenei wanderers, and the sunken Temple of Atal'Hakkar to the east. Crucially, Stonard also provides the Horde with an organized staging post just north of the shattered Blasted Lands, ensuring a watchful eye remains near the dormant Dark Portal.
