Ruins of Mathystra

The Ruins of Mathystra are the crumbled remnants of an ancient night elven city sitting along the northern coast of Darkshore. Shattered during the Great Sundering ten thousand years ago, the coastal ruins are now overrun by hostile Stormscale naga and prowled by elusive Ghost Sabers.

Ten millennia ago, Mathystra stood as a bustling night elven settlement, home to high-ranking Highborne nobility. When the Well of Eternity collapsed during the Great Sundering, cataclysmic waves shattered the coastal city, toppling its grand marble arches and washing much of its stonework into the sea. The surviving night elves abandoned the ruined city in favor of smaller woodland villages further south, leaving Mathystra's sunken courtyards and cracked foundations to the relentless coastal elements.
