Dry Hills

The Dry Hills form the rugged northwestern corner of the Barrens, nestled against the foothills of the Stonetalon Mountains. Contrary to their name, these uplands are noticeably greener than the arid plains below, though they are notoriously dangerous due to the aggressive Witchwing harpies roosting along their crags.

Tucked away where the arid plains rise toward the Stonetalon Mountains, the Dry Hills are somewhat of a misnomer, possessing far more verdant brush and shrubbery than the sun-bleached savannas to the south. Yet this lush foothill region offers little safety for travelers. The bluffs are dominated by the Witchwing harpies, led by the matriarch Serena Bloodfeather. From these heights, their raiding parties sweep down to prey on supply caravans using the northern stretch of the Gold Road, leaving abandoned orcish fortifications and derelict siege engines rotting in the brush.
