Aku'mai's Lair

Aku'mai's Lair is the deepest and darkest cavern within Blackfathom Deeps. Located beyond the Moonshrine Sanctum, this submerged hollow serves as the nesting ground for Aku'mai, a monstrous hydra venerated as a servant of the Old Gods.

Heart of the Depths

Sealed away behind the Moonshrine Sanctum, Aku'mai's Lair represents the culmination of the corruption sweeping Blackfathom Deeps. To enter the cavern, dark rituals must be engaged by igniting the four brazier fires flanking a naga statue, awakening guardians sworn to defend the threshold. Beyond these heavy double doors lies a sunless, flooded grotto. Here, both the Twilight's Hammer cultists and invading naga gather in reverence of Aku'mai, an ancient three-headed hydra considered a living servant of the Old Gods.

Harbinger of Ruin

The presence of Aku'mai within the lair makes it a focal point for the apocalyptic plans of the Twilight's Hammer. The cultists revere the great beast as an omen of a promised age of darkness, believing its emergence and continued sustenance will herald the breaking of subterranean prisons holding their ancient deities. Fed by sacrificial offerings and guarded zealously by dark magic, the subterranean pool serves as a grim symbol of the ancient evil clawing its way back into Kalimdor.
