Dying in WoW Forever: Release Spirit, Corpse Runs and Spirit Healers
In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) you can run back to your corpse as a ghost and resurrect without extra penalty, or accept a Spirit Healer at a graveyard and pay for it in gear durability and a brief weakness. No source I opened is a full Forever death guide, so the rules below come from Warcraft Wiki's description of the original game, plus beta reports about the Spirit Healer.
Quick answer: Release your spirit, run to the corpse (in the original game a ghost runs at 125% speed) and choose to resurrect there, with half health and mana and no extra penalty. The alternative is a Spirit Healer, which reports put at 25% extra durability loss in the beta, plus Resurrection Sickness. wowforever.be says Blizzard has not confirmed the figure.

Key facts
- Ghost: nearest graveyard, 1 health, 125% run speed (Warcraft Wiki)
- Corpse resurrection: when in range, choose Resurrect Now to return with half health and half mana and no additional penalty (Warcraft Wiki)
- Death durability: equipped items lose 10% durability; inventory items are unaffected (Warcraft Wiki)
- Spirit Healer in the Forever beta: 25% durability, reported as down from 50% (datamine, not a patch note)
- Resurrection Sickness: all attributes and damage reduced by 75%; levels 1 to 10 unaffected, otherwise one minute (Warcraft Wiki)
- Summoning: none from stones; the Warlock ritual needs two other party members present (Warcraft Tavern)
What happens when you die?
Warcraft Wiki's account of the original game says you can release your spirit or wait; if you do nothing, the spirit releases itself after 6 minutes. Released, you wake as a ghost (night elves as a wisp) at the nearest graveyard with 1 health, and death strips your buffs and debuffs apart from the ghost debuff and certain flask effects.
A ghost runs at 125 percent speed and can cross water. Dying again as a ghost sends you back to the graveyard.
How do you corpse run in WoW Forever?
Run the ghost to where the body fell. Warcraft Wiki defines the corpse run as the ghost's trip to its fallen body to resurrect there. When you are in range, pick Resurrect Now: you return with half health and half mana, with no additional penalty. The wiki lists a nearby player's resurrection as another route back.
According to Warcraft Wiki's corpse-running page, you cannot enter an instance as a ghost, or alive, while your raid fights a boss inside. Because Forever has no summoning stones, a long run back to a dungeon is the cost of dying far from it; see no summoning stones.
What does a Spirit Healer cost?
A Spirit Healer waits at the graveyard and revives you at once. The wiki's death page says this adds 25 percent durability loss to equipped and inventory items on top of the death loss, and applies Resurrection Sickness. Its separate Spirit Healer page lists 50 percent without naming a game version.
For Forever, three sites report the same beta change: wowforever.be (October 9, 2026), ForeverWisp (reviewed October 9) and wow.gg (October 8 changes) say the penalty was cut from 50 to 25 percent. wowforever.be and ForeverWisp attribute it to a Wowhead datamine of beta build 4; wow.gg names no source. wowforever.be notes that Blizzard's notes did not mention the change and that Blizzard has not confirmed it. All three say Resurrection Sickness is unchanged. See the travel guide and the hardcore ruleset.
What is not confirmed yet
- Warcraft Wiki's death page is not labeled for Forever, so its numbers are original-game rules, not a Forever guarantee.
- The 25 percent Spirit Healer figure for Forever comes from a datamine that wowforever.be says Blizzard has not confirmed; wowforever.be and ForeverWisp say it could change before launch.
- A Blizzard beta known-issues thread lists "Resurrection sickness's duration is not correct at lower levels" (Kaivax's September 18, 2026 post; the thread's latest entry is October 8).
- The wiki says releasing in an instance now revives you at its start, and that it originally sent you to the nearest graveyard; which rule Forever uses is not documented.
- Death durability for Forever (10 percent on the wiki) has no Forever-specific source.
