Windshear Crag

Windshear Crag is a heavily despoiled valley in the central Stonetalon Mountains, stripped of its ancient timber by the Venture Company. Once a lush forest, the region is now an industrial wasteland dominated by whirring shredders, murky runoff, and aggressive logging crews. In the shadows of the machinery, local kobolds burrow for ore while mountain passes connect the scarred landscape to Ashenvale.

Not long ago, Windshear Crag was a thick, old-growth woodland flanking the slopes of Stonetalon. That tranquil wilderness vanished when the Venture Company arrived in search of profit. Today, the basin is filled with severed stumps, acrid smog, and clanking machinery. The entire logging enterprise is overseen by Gerenzo Wrenchwhistle, a leper gnome whose engineering genius produced the Super Reaper 6000—a mechanical terror capable of reducing massive trunks to kindling in moments. From an elevated platform above the polluted Cragpool Lake, Gerenzo directs an unchecked operation that strips the mountain bare, earning the hostility of rival engineers and local inhabitants alike.
