Stratholme (Classic)
Stratholme, once northern Lordaeron's proudest jewel and the birthplace of the Silver Hand, is now a burning ruin serving as the Scourge's regional capital. Divided between the fanatical Scarlet Crusade and Baron Rivendare's undead legions, the cursed city remains locked in endless, violent war.
The Cursed Capital
Before the Third War, Stratholme was the northern powerhouse of Lordaeron and the sacred birthplace of the Knights of the Silver Hand. Its fate was sealed when Prince Arthas purged the city, slaughtering his own subjects after infected grain brought the plague within its walls. Left smoldering and ruined, Stratholme was claimed by the Scourge. Today, under the overarching authority of the lich Kel'Thuzad and the field command of Baron Rivendare, the city serves as the primary base for undead power in the Plaguelands.
A Divided Warfront
Stratholme is split between two vicious factions locked in perpetual bloodshed. To the west, the fanatical Scarlet Crusade has fortified Crusaders' Square and the Scarlet Bastion, commanded by Grand Crusader Saidan Dathrohan. To the east lies the Scourge slaughterhouses and necropolises, defended by towering ziggurats and the death knight Baron Rivendare. Anyone entering the city must navigate this grinding crossfire, surrounded by burning tenements and restless spirits.
