Darkwhisper Gorge

Following the defeat of Archimonde atop Mount Hyjal, surviving demons of the Burning Legion scattered into the surrounding mountain ranges. A disciplined vanguard took refuge in Darkwhisper Gorge, transforming the southern border of Winterspring into a lethal stronghold. Led by Hederine demons—including lethal manastalkers, slayers, and initiates under Lady Hederine—these fiends fiercely defend their subterranean tunnels and fiery camps. Beyond the immediate threat of its elite inhabitants, an ominous, sealed archway stands at the gorge's lowest point, hinting at sealed passages leading higher up the sacred mountain.

Despite the overwhelming danger, brave adventurers and opportunists brave the gorge for its exceptional wealth. The ravines are rich in valuable minerals like truesilver and dense deposits of thorium. Deeper within its shadowed grottos, unusual inhabitants eke out an existence, such as the imp vendor Vi'el peddling fel-tainted reagents like felcloth and gromsblood, and the elusive high elf Earthcaller Franzahl, who possesses ancient metallurgical lore regarding the smelting of rare elementium.
