Canals (Undercity)

The story

The Canals form a murky, circular moat winding between the distinct quarters of the Undercity. Filled with an unnatural, noxious green slime rather than fresh water, they serve as both a sewage system and a grim symbol of the Forsaken's subterranean stronghold.

Carved into the subterranean depths beneath the ruins of Lordaeron, the Canals encircle the heart of the Undercity, dividing its quarters with wide channels of sluggish green sludge. While mortal cities channel flowing river water to clean their avenues, the Forsaken have filled these stone conduits with industrial refuse, chemical runoff, and alchemical waste. The liquid emits a faint, sickly glow and foul vapors, making it impossible to traverse by ordinary magical means like water walking. Despite the lethality of the slurry, desperate anglers occasionally haul bizarre, tainted curiosities from the muck.
