Narain Soothfancy
Narain Soothfancy is an eccentric gnome dwelling in a secluded beach hut just north of Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris. While he loudly advertises himself as a master soothsayer capable of divining the future, those who know him consider his psychic talents a complete farce compared to his genuine engineering genius.
Psychic Visions and Practical Gearing
Perched on the eastern coast of Tanaris just north of the goblin docks, Narain Soothfancy lives as a retired engineer turned self-proclaimed master fortune teller. He routinely greets visitors by pressing unopened envelopes against his forehead or making wildly inaccurate guesses about their business, such as wondering if they have arrived seeking the legendary Ashbringer. Despite his theatrical charade, Narain possesses deep technical knowledge. Even ancient beings like the blue dragon Azuregos note that while Narain is a terrible psychic, his engineering aptitude is undeniably brilliant. A handbook titled 'Soothsaying for Dummies' rests nearby.
A Shoreline Crash
Before settling by Steamwheedle Port, Narain suffered a catastrophic flying machine crash far to the south along Land's End Beach. He survived the wreck thanks to an unexpected rescue, though his eccentric personality and strange obsessions have kept him isolated on the desert shores, tinkering with arcane-adjacent technology and peddling dubious prophecies to anyone who passes by.
